
Hi there! I am Lisa and welcome to Cinnamon & Cilantro—a place to share my love for cooking and baking as well as whatever random thoughts are on my mind in the moment.
My love for baking first started when I was around 8. My babysitter decided to bake a banana cake with me, but after mixing most of the ingredients together, we realized we didn’t have any milk! The only milk we had was Primo lime milk, so we decided to use that. To no one’s surprise, the cake came out green and with a hint of lime, but I absolutely loved it. Since then, I’ve been experimenting in the kitchen, mixing up creations, while forcing my family and friends to eat it all. As much as I love baking, eating sweets only isn’t a sustainable diet, so my passion for baking has evolved into a passion for cooking proper meals as well.
As I learned more about food, I developed an interest for health and nutrition. I started to create healthier versions of beloved recipes, using whole wheat flour in place of all-purpose flour, olive oil in place of butter, and less sugar whenever possible. That being said, my vision for this blog is diversity in all regards, so I will not be posting vegan recipes only; however, you should definitely expect a sprinkling or two of healthy treats and tips.
So why the name Cinnamon & Cilantro? I love both cinnamon and cilantro and wanted to highlight my love for making both savory foods as well as sweet treats. Cinnamon is my favorite baking spice and cilantro is my favorite cooking herb, and what do you know, they don’t sound half bad together. My first blog by the same name, which I will call C&C 1.0, can be found via the following link: www.cinnamonandcilantro.blogspot.com. As I thought about blogging again, I decided that it was time to move onto another platform, so C&C 2.0 will be the next phase of work from my aspiring blogger self.
